Five Highlanders sign National Letters of Intent
Five members of the Highlander Baseball squad signed National Letters of Intent to play for NCAA Division I programs following their time at McLennan.
Sophomore infielder Sam Flores signed with Kansas State University. The Lufkin, Texas, native appeared in 31 games last season, recording a .211 batting average with nine RBI. He was a second-team all-academic selection, and represented McLennan in the Texas-New Mexico Junior College Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Games this fall.
Sophomore pitcher Nick Greaney is headed to Florida State University. Greaney missed the 2023 season due to injury. As a freshman in 2022, he made 19 appearances on the mound, recording a 4-2 record with a 2.13 ERA (third on team) and 39 strikeouts in 42.1 innings, and was a First-Team All-Conference selection.
Gavyn Jones, a freshman pitcher/infielder from White Oak, Texas, signed with the University of Oklahoma. In high school, he recorded a .490 batting average with 11 home runs, 15 stolen bases and 68 RBI, and a 10-1 pitching record with a 0.92 ERA. He was a two-time District MVP, First-Team All-State selection and a Team Texas honoree.
Brodey Williams signed with the University of New Mexico. The sophomore from Mont Belvue, Texas, appeared in 22 games in 2023, recording a .273 batting average with one double, 11 RBI, 15 runs scored and six stolen bases.
Xander McAfee signed with Loyola Marymount University in California. McAfee, an outfielder from Fort Worth appeared in 38 games in 2023, recording a .318 batting average and was second on the team with 12 doubles and three home runs.
