The McLennan Highlanders opened their three-game series with Western Texas with a 1-0 shut-out victory over the Westerners. Will Clements picked up the win on the mound and Will Glatch got the save.
The Highlanders winning run came in the bottom of the sixth. Chase Brown singled. Elijah Rodriguez followed with a fielder's choice, putting Brown out at second. Britton Moore singled, and Ravaughn Morgan singled to score Rodriguez.
The teams will complete the series with a noon doubleheader Saturday at Bosque River Ballpark.
