Record number of McLennan athletes earn academic awards, four teams honored
Members of six McLennan Community College teams combined to set a new school record for student-athletes being named to the NJCAA All-Academic Teams. McLennan placed 41 athletes on the list released today, surpassing the previous record of 39 set in 2020-21. Baseball led the way for McLennan with 17 honorees, followed by softball with 12, men's golf with six, women's golf with three, women's basketball with two, and men's basketball with one.
A total of 9,912 student-athletes from across the nation were named among the three levels of honorees: First Team (4.00 GPA), Second Team (3.80-3.99 GPA), and Third Team (3.60-3.79 GPA). McLennan placed 18 on the First Team, 10 on the Second Team and 13 on the Third Team.

Second Team: Sidney Campion (softball), Zach Cawyer (baseball), Cole Fontenelle (baseball), Mariona Garcia (women's basketball), Will Glatch (baseball), Diego Gonzalez (men's basketball), Katcher Halligan (baseball), Max Hamilton (baseball), Riley Rutherford (softball) and Kevin Yang (men's golf).

Additionally, four McLennan teams were among the 1,061 teams from across the nation recognized as 2021-22 Academic Teams of the Year for team GPA: softball (3.7), men's golf (3.54), women's golf (3.47) and baseball (3.4).
