The McLennan Highlanders went 1-1 Saturday and picked up a win on Sunday to close out the Panama City Gulf Coast Classic.
McLennan fell to the St. Johns River Pirates 4-1 in its first game on Saturday. Wyatt Cheney took the loss on the mound.
St. Johns River scored three runs in the top of the first. Jarrett Ford led off with a single and scored on a JJ Sousa triple. Tripp McKinlay then tripled to score Sousa and scored as Connor Morgan reached on an error.
The Highlanders' run came in the bottom of the third as Ty Johnson reached on an error, moved around to third on a single by Marquis Jackson and scored on a sacrifice fly by Cole Dillon.
The Pirates final run came in the fifth as Parker Stallard reached on an error, stole second, moved to third on a ground out by Sousa and scored on a passed ball.
McLennan bounced back to Chattahoochee Valley 7-2 in the nightcap with Gray Harrison getting the win on the mound.
The Highlanders scored four runs in the top of the first inning. Jackson drew a walk and scored on double by Cole Fontenelle. Fontenelle then moved to third on an overthrow. Dillon and Mateo Zeppieri were both hit by the pitch, loading the bases. Drew Messick singled to score Fontenelle, and Ravaughn Morgan singled to score Dillon and Zeppieri.
Two more McLennan runs scored in the third. Zeppieri walked and scored on a double by Messick. Morgan then tripled to score Messick.
Fontenelle's solo home run to lead off the fourth would be the Highlander's final run of the night.
Both of Chattahoochee Valley's runs came in the bottom of the sixth. Brendan York singled and Brant Deerman reached on an error. Both runners advanced on a ground out by Brett Pitts and scored on a Highlander error.
The Highlanders wrapped up the trip to Florida with a 5-4 win over Wallace-Dothan Sunday morning.
McLennan scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Daniel Altman was hit by the pitch and Johnson bunted for a single. Fontenelle followed with a double to score Altman and Johnson. Dillon singled and Johnson scored on a single by Morgan.
Kade Snell's solo home run to lead of the fourth put Wallace-Dothan on the board.
The Highlanders responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Altman was hit by the pitch again and Johnson singled. Both runners advanced on a double steal. Altman came in to score on a throwing error, and Dillon doubled to score Johnson.
Wallace-Dothan rounded out the scoring with three runs in the sixth. Zane Faulk was hit by the pitch and Chaz Salter singled. Both runners scored on a single by Gio Ferraro. Ferraro then moved to second on an error and scored on a double by Jacob Pierce.
