Highlanders drop pair of games at Weatherford
The McLennan Highlanders dropped both games of today's doubleheader at Weatherford.
Game one was a pitcher's duel with Weatherford getting the 2-1 win. Logan Henderson took the loss on the mound for McLennan.
The Highlanders' run came in the top of the first as Miguel Santos singled, moved to second on an error, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a ground out by Mason Greer.
Both of Weatherford's runs came in the bottom of the second as Noah Boughton walked and scored on Hunter Rosson's home run.
The Coyotes defeated the Highlanders 10-2 in game two with Riggs Threadgill taking the loss on the mound for McLennan.
Weatherford scored three runs in the first. Kameron Weil singled and moved to second on a ground out by Brenden Dixon. Brett Brown singled to score Weil, and Jacob Guerrero followed with a two-run homer.
The Coyotes added five runs in the second. Rosson led off with a single. Bo Willis and Weil both walked, loading the bases. Dixon singled to score Rosson and Willis, and Brown doubled to score Weil. Austin Green then doubled to score Dixon and Brown.
Both McLennan runs ca.me in the top of the sixth as Izzy Lopez singled and score on a Santos home run.
Weatherford added another run in the bottom of the sixth. Brown and Green both singled, and Guerrero walked to load the bases. Brown then scored on a passed ball.
Willis' solo home run in the seventh secured the run rule for the Coyotes.
The teams will complete the series with a noon doubleheader Saturday at Bosque River Ballpark.
