Highlanders defeat Blinn
The McLennan Highlanders defeated the Blinn Buccaneers 7-4 in Brenham with Coleman Beazley getting the win on the mound and Palmer Wenzel picking up the save.
McLennan began the scoring with one run in the first as Joe Breaux drew a lead-off walk, moved to second on a single by James Rudkin, advanced to third on a Blinn error and scored on a single by Tucker Johnson.
The Highlanders added three runs in the second. Cole Haring walked and Creighton Eldridge was hit by the pitch. Both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Mario Vela. Breaux then grounded out to score Haring. Rudkin singled, bringing Eldridge in to score. Rudkin then advanced to second on another Blinn error and scored on a single by Brendan Venter.
Blinn got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the second. Elijah MacNamee and Sam McElreath both singled. Both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Angel De Le Fuente. MacNamee scored on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Gray. McElreath then scored on a single by George Pappas.
The Buccaneers tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Austen Swift drew a walk and Hillin Warren doubled. Swift scored on a sacrifice fly by MacNamee. Warren advanced to third on a Highlander error and scored on a sacrifice fly by De La Fuente.
McLennan took the lead with a run in the sixth as Eldridge was hit by the pitch, moved to second on an error and scored on a single by Vela.
The Highlanders added a run in the eighth. Nic Motley was hit by the pitch and Haring drew a walk. Both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Eldridge. Motley then scored on a single by Vela.
McLennan rounded out the scoring with a run in the top of the ninth. Rudkin singled but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Dimas Ojeda. Ojeda then scored on a double by Venter.
