The McLennan Highlanders swept the Ranger Rangers this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
The Highlanders defeated the Rangers 4-1 in the first game with Kody Hessemer pitching the complete game for the win.
McLennan began the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the first. Matt Hogan singled and scored on a double by Andrew Rhodes. Trevor Podsednik was safe at first and advanced to second on a Ranger error, bringing Rhodes in to score. Zach Gonzalez, Sydney Daley and Dalton Rodriguez all drew walks, advancing Podsednik around to score.
The Ranger's only run came in the top of the third as Gavin Tristan walked, stole second, advanced to third on a Highlander error and scored on a ground out by Pedro Barrios.
The Highlanders added one run in the sixth. Rodriguez singled, moved to second on a sacrifice by Miles Manning and advanced to third on a single by Max Hogan. Matt Campbell was then safe on a Ranger error, scoring Rodriguez.
McLennan shutout the Rangers 4-0 in the night cap with Greg Maisto getting the win on the mound.
The Highlanders got on the board with two runs in the fourth. Podsednik singled, Valenzuela walked and Mason George walked to load the bases. Gonzalez followed with a sacrifice fly to score Podesednik. Valenzuela then game in to score on a Ranger error.
McLennan rounded out the scoring with two runs in the fifth. Campbell was safe on an error and Rhodes singled. Both runners scored on a single by Valenzuela.
